// HOW TO PLAY · THRESH

Early Game

Top-lane Thresh is a slow-stat Grasp tank. Stack passive souls from minion deaths — each one is permanent armor + AP. Trade with Q (Death Sentence) into Flay (E) push-away when the enemy minion line is in your favor.

Don't all-in level 1-3. You have low base AD and rely on Grasp procs every 4 seconds. Hug your wave, stack Doran's Shield regen.

Mid Game

After level 6, lantern roam (W) to your jungler for picks at scuttle / rift herald. Build Sunfire next for waveclear + persistent AoE damage in skirmishes.

In 1v1s, lead with E (Flay) toward the wall, then Q-hook for guaranteed combo. Your Q range is huge — bait the enemy out of position.

Late Game

Frontline engage — your job in teamfights is to peel for backline OR pick a sidelane bruiser with Q. R (The Box) blocks enemy mobility in a chokepoint. Use it offensively at Baron / Drake walls.

Don't 1v1 fed bruisers — you lose to Aatrox, Sett, Garen DPS. Save your kit for the 5v5.

Win Condition

Survive lane to 2 items, then teamfight.

You win by reaching Sunfire + Spirit Visage with 5+ souls, then engaging fights with Q at angle. You lose if you over-extend top and get camped early.

Power Spikes

Level 3 — all 3 abilities unlocked, first all-in. Sunfire Aegis — waveclear + AoE damage spike. Level 11 — R rank 2 + 5 souls = teamfight readiness. Spirit Visage (3rd item) — sustain spike, you become unkillable in extended fights.

Tips & Combos

Combos:

  • Q -> Flash mid-air -> E (Flay) to your tower under-dive
  • Wall-stand a Q from inside terrain — enemy can't see the cast bar
  • Souls drop from ANY minion dying within range — push wave fast, soak souls, recall safe

Anti-tips:

  • Don't go for level 1 fights — your AD is the lowest in the game
  • Don't Q a fed enemy into your team if you can't follow up — you give them a free reset
